FAQ
Do I need to come to school to participate in an online course?
Courses will be taught without any on-campus requirements. However, some instructors may choose to have an optional on-campus orientation session.
How do I register for online course?
The registration process is the same for online courses as it is for all AETC courses. For more information on registration you can view the steps for becoming an online student
How do I contact my instructor?
If you have questions about an online course, or want to contact your instructor for any reason, you have several options. Each instructor has posted his/her office phone number, E-mail address and office number throughout the course web site. You can use either method you wish to contact an instructor.
What Kind of hardware and software do I need?
Hardware:
Computer: Pentium class PC at least 128 MB of RAM. It is recommended that Macintosh users have 256 MB of RAM
Modem: A 56Kbps modem is preferred if dialing up for Internet Access..
Internet Service Provider (ISP): You must be connected to the Internet by an Internet Service Provider that offers a reliable direct PPP connection or any broadband service such as DSL or Cable.
E-Mail: you can use current email for communication in your online course.
Software:
Web Browser: We try to design the site with all browsers in mind but we recomend that you use the most recently released version of your favorite browser. If you don't know what version you are using please use the browser check below. If you need an upgrade for Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla's Firefox they are available for download online. Please visit Microsoft or Mozilla to upgrade now.
What if I have technical problems while taking an online course?
If you are having problems connecting to the Internet, please contact your Internet Service Provider. For example if you are an AOL user, please call their tech support number to get connected.
What about assignments, testing and attendance?
Each instructor decides how they will handle written assignments, testing and attendance. Assignments may be submitted via E-mail, fax, or U.S. Mail. Testing may be done online or the testing centers at the AETC campus may be utilized. Attendance may be taken during virtual class sessions or may not be required at all. Specific details about these issues will be published in the course syllabus or course web site.
How much will an online course cost?
The fee for an online course at AETC can be found outline on the Website homepage page.
How does my instructor contact me when my online course is due to begin?
Some Instructors will send out a welcome email to students before the beginning on class. This content typically contains information about the course, the instructor, and information about logging in and starting the class.
Online Courses start the same day as face to face courses and you should log into website the first day of class to
get started. If you have questions about when the course starts you should contact the instructor or evening school administration.
I am having trouble logging on to my online course. What am I doing wrong?
In order to login to an online course you need:
Your User Name = The user name you created when you created your student login.
Your Password = The password that you created to correspond with your user name.
