Tradesman Continuing Education

 

Beginning January 1, 2008, all individuals holding tradesman licenses with the trade designations of plumbing, electrical and heating ventilation and cooling are required to complete three-hours of continuing education for each designation. Individuals holding licenses as liquefied petroleum gas fitters and natural gas fitter providers are required to complete one hour of continuing education.    The continuing education requirements must be fulfilled before a tradesman can renew his/her license. The continuing education requirements must be completed during each two-year license renewal period.

The Adult Evening Technical Center - Richmond Technical Center has been approved by the Board  of Contractors, and the Department of Professional Occupational and Regulation (DPOR) to conduct training that meet the three-hour continuing education requirement.

The Technical Center is required to electronically submit rosters for each course they conduct.  That information is downloaded to each individual tradesman's record. Participants are strongly encouraged to keep a record of completing the course (i.e. certificate of completion) in case it is requested by the Board office when a tradesman renews.

The cost for the three-hour class is $60.00 per class. Gasfitter the cost is $30.00. Payment made with cash, cashier check, credit card, money order or company check. Visit the school web site at www.rtcva.org.
